How this all started

MELISSA BARTON

I'm Melissa Barton, the "birth mother" of the Kraft-Kit idea.

Although today I am a small business consultant, my whole life has been about "the craft". Any craft, any time...

My folks bought a whole cloth cross stitch quilt kit, bought in 1942, just before they were married. They started it then and then we as children were "allowed" to do the cross stitch boarders as we were growing up. By the time I was in high school, my dad was finishing the quilting on a frame he set up in the tv room. It's in my blood! I now love to spin, knit, crochet, needlepoint, sew and design lots and lots of stuff.

In September of 2010, I moved to Kennewick, WA and took on Krafti-Kit full time after the passing of my business partner, Laura Cohen. We met through a knitting group I started some years back and our combined passion for fiber arts was the fertile ground for this business. We always both believed in passing on the "fiber love" and "each one teach one".
